I have at last realized the draw of Edward Cullen:

He has bishie sparkles. And they're built into his skin.

I was watching a shoujo anime today when I made this realization. The main draw of the young men in such shows is that they sparkle when they smile. Sparkle. Sound familiar?

Of course it does!

Edward Cullen, of course, does not have such sparkles floating about free-range where they may be blown away by the winds of reality and sanity. No, sir. He has them built right into his skin where the delusions of rabid fangirls may catch sight of them. I swear, if somebody ever put a spotlight on our dear glam-rock Cullen boy, the glare would be enough to call all the fangirls in the continental United States and quite possibly Canada to the site.

Edward has the draw of glitter, of sparkly and shiny things. For those with short attention spans, his epidermis-enclosed bishie sparkles are a great distraction, even if the glint of them could be blinding should the light be bright enough.

That's right. Edward's bishie sparkles are the source of his power.

Vive la glitter, I suppose.
